Ironbark & Oak Renovations — Renovation builder website concept
A concept website for a fictional Sydney renovation builder, combining architectural drawing-style visuals with honest cost guidance and a three-step site visit form.

Note: Ironbark & Oak Renovations is a fictional business. This is a concept website Newzen designed to show how we approach a website for a residential renovation builder in Sydney. There is no real client, and no results are claimed.
The problem
Most renovation builders win work through referrals, then lose it online. Their websites tend to be a logo, a gallery of unlabelled photos and a contact form that asks for everything at once. Homeowners can't tell what the builder specialises in, what a project might cost or what happens after they enquire, so they move on to the next result or ask three builders for quotes and pick the cheapest.
Goals
- Make the offer clear in one screen: what they build, where, and the next step (a free site visit).
- Build trust without invented reviews or statistics: process, licensing and insurance statements, and honest cost guidance.
- Pre-qualify enquiries so the builder spends site visits on projects that fit.
Design decisions
The visual direction is grounded and architectural. A warm timber and eucalyptus palette sits against a strong charcoal, with confident Space Grotesk headings and Inter for body text. Rather than stock photos, the hero is an architectural elevation drawing of a cottage with a new rear extension, complete with dimension lines, callouts and a drawing title block. It tells homeowners "these people plan properly" before they read a word. The project gallery uses duotone illustrations labelled by suburb and scope, ready to be swapped for real photography.
Honest cost guidance
Cost is the question every renovation client has and few builders answer. The concept includes a "what renovations typically cost" table with ranges for bathrooms, kitchens, decks, extensions and whole-home work, a visual scale bar and a clear disclaimer that these are indicative only and confirmed by a fixed-price quote. This filters out mismatched budgets and builds credibility.
Conversion features
- Sticky header with tap-to-call and a "Free site visit" button.
- Trust strip: licensed NSW builder, fully insured, home warranty insurance on eligible jobs, fixed-price quotes.
- A five-step process (consult, design, fixed quote, build, handover) with typical timeframes.
- A three-step quote form: project type and budget, then suburb, timeframe and plans, then contact details. Smaller steps feel easier to start than one long form.
- A Google reviews placeholder that would show real reviews through a live widget. No testimonials are written for the business.
- FAQ covering approvals, living on site, timeframes and what "fixed price" means.
Mobile decisions
Most homeowners first browse on their phone. On mobile the header drops to the logo and a call button, and a sticky bottom bar keeps "Call" and "Free site visit" in thumb reach. The process timeline becomes a vertical list, the cost table stacks with ranges aligned right, and the form's tap targets are large chips instead of dropdowns where possible.
SEO and local SEO plan
- Dedicated service pages (kitchen, bathroom, extensions, whole-home, decks) and region pages for the Inner West, North Shore, Eastern Suburbs and Hills.
- A fully completed Google Business Profile with service areas, categories and regular project photo posts.
- LocalBusiness / HomeAndConstructionBusiness schema, plus FAQ schema on service pages.
- Cost guide articles targeting searches like "bathroom renovation cost Sydney".
What the real build would include
A live version would connect the quote form to the builder's CRM or email with instant SMS notification, add call tracking and GA4 conversion events for calls and form steps, embed live Google reviews, include a proper photographed project gallery with case pages, and set up a booking calendar for site visits. The licence number and insurance certificates would be displayed as the business provides them.
