What is website care and hosting?

A website is not a brochure you print once and forget. It runs on software that needs updates, sits on a server that needs watching, and holds forms and bookings that can quietly stop working. Website care is the ongoing upkeep that keeps all of that healthy, so your site stays fast, secure and online while you get on with running your business.

Our website care and hosting plan covers managed hosting, updates, backups, security monitoring, uptime checks, small content edits, speed checks and a monthly plain-English report. It is month-to-month, and you can leave whenever you like.

Think of it like servicing a car. You can skip it for a while and nothing seems wrong, until something expensive fails on the highway. Regular care costs less than emergency repairs, and it is a lot less stressful.

Who is website care for?

This plan suits small and mid-sized businesses that rely on their website for calls, bookings, quotes or sales, but do not have someone in-house to look after it. It is especially useful if your site runs on WordPress, which is flexible and popular but depends on regular theme and plugin updates to stay secure.

It is also a good fit if you have had a site built by someone who is no longer around, and nobody is quite sure who has the logins or when it was last updated. We can take over, tidy up and get it back on a steady footing.

What is included, and why each part matters

Managed hosting

We host your site on reliable, properly configured servers with SSL (the padlock in the browser), caching and sensible resource limits for your traffic. Why it matters: cheap shared hosting can be slow and crowded, and a slow site loses visitors and can hurt your search visibility. If you prefer to keep your current host, we can care for the site there instead.

Software updates

We update the core software, themes and plugins on a regular schedule, after taking a backup and checking for known conflicts. Then we check key pages and forms afterward. Why it matters: outdated plugins are one of the most common ways small business sites get hacked. Updating blindly can also break things, which is why we test.

Daily backups, stored off-site

Automatic backups of your files and database, kept in a separate location from your server. Why it matters: if something goes wrong, whether a bad update, a hack or an accidental deletion, we can restore a working version rather than rebuild from scratch.

Security monitoring

Malware scanning, a firewall, login protection and alerts for suspicious changes. If something does get through, we clean it up. Why it matters: a hacked site can redirect visitors to spam, get flagged by browsers with a warning, or leak form data. Catching problems early limits the damage.

Uptime monitoring

Automated checks every few minutes to confirm your site is responding. If it goes down, we are alerted and start investigating. Why it matters: you should not find out your site is down from a customer, or worse, not find out at all.

Small content edits

A monthly allowance of small changes: updating opening hours, swapping photos, adding a team member, changing prices or tweaking text. Why it matters: small edits are the ones that never get done when you have to find a developer each time, so the site slowly goes out of date.

Speed checks

We check page speed on mobile and fix the usual culprits, such as oversized images, unused plugins and heavy scripts. Why it matters: sites tend to get slower over time as content and add-ons pile up.

Monthly plain-English report

One short report each month: what we updated, backups taken, any security events, uptime, speed results and edits completed, plus anything we recommend. Why it matters: you can see the work being done instead of paying for something invisible.

You own your domain, your site and your data

This is the part we care about most. Your domain stays registered in your name, at a registrar account you control. The website files, database, content and images are yours. Your analytics and Google Search Console accounts are in your name, and we are added as users.

Can you leave anytime? Yes. The plan is month-to-month, with no lock-in contract and no exit fees. If you decide to move on, we hand over a full backup of your site and database, help point your domain to your new host if you want help, and pass on all logins. Some hosting companies make leaving deliberately awkward. We would rather you stay because the service is good.

How it works

1. Free check-up. Start with a free growth audit, delivered in two business days. It covers speed, security basics and anything that looks out of date.
2. Onboarding. We collect access, take a full backup before touching anything, and document what your site runs on.
3. Clean-up. If the site has been neglected, we quote any catch-up work separately at a fixed price, such as major updates, removing abandoned plugins or fixing broken forms. You approve it before we start.
4. Migration (if moving to our hosting). We copy the site, test it on the new server and switch over carefully to keep downtime to a minimum.
5. Ongoing care. Updates, backups, monitoring and edits each month, with requests answered within one business day and a monthly report.

What affects the price?

Website care and hosting starts from $99 per month for a standard small business site, such as a WordPress site of modest size with typical traffic. The price goes up with:

• Larger sites or higher traffic that need more server resources
• WooCommerce or other online stores, which need more careful updates and testing because orders and payments are involved
• More content edits each month
• Custom-coded features that need developer attention when updating
• Faster response commitments for business-critical sites

What about Shopify, Wix or Squarespace sites?

Hosted platforms like Shopify handle the hosting, server security and core updates for you, so you do not need our hosting. You may still want help with apps, theme updates, content changes, speed and tracking. We can offer a care plan without hosting for those platforms. Ask us and we will tell you honestly whether it is worth it for your site.

Who is this not a good fit for?

• Large, high-traffic sites or complex web applications that need dedicated infrastructure and round-the-clock engineering cover. We will tell you if your site falls into that group.
• Owners who are comfortable updating, backing up and monitoring their own site. You may not need us, and that is fine.
• Anyone looking for a 100% uptime promise. No hosting provider can honestly guarantee a site will never go down. What we promise is monitoring, fast response and a backup to restore from.
